A useful distinction
A restaurant menu selects dishes for its own setting and audience. The broad label “Chinese food” does not describe one uniform regional practice. Museum narratives show why place, family and migration belong in conversations about food.
Put it into practice
Read each description for ingredients and method, then keep any regional attribution connected with a reliable source. A familiar English dish name is not enough to reconstruct a regional recipe. This journal introduces ways to read food stories rather than representing an actual restaurant menu.
