A useful distinction
A broad cuisine category can be useful for navigation while remaining too general for a historical claim. A source might identify a city, region, family or migration route. These descriptions have different scales and should not be used interchangeably.
Put it into practice
Keep a small source note beside a regional attribution. If the source does not establish one, say so. Avoid decorative claims of authenticity based on appearance; a fictional food illustration can introduce a topic without establishing a dish’s origin or method.
