A useful distinction
A note such as “the sauce was thicker after five minutes” records an observation. “Use less liquid next time” is a proposal. Keeping them distinct makes it easier to understand why a later version differs from the first.
Put it into practice
Record recipe version, actual ingredients, relevant quantities and the observed result. Add proposed changes in a separate line. Avoid inventing exact timings from memory, and keep safety-related instructions unchanged unless an appropriate tested source supports the change.
